Dispute sparks over construction work at Albuquerque Home
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) –
Mischelle Huling showed KRQE News 13 why she says her northeast Albuquerque home is now a hazard, pointing to water damage and mold.
“It’s not a good healthy condition to be living in, but we try to manage. There’s nowhere else for us to go,” Huling said.
She’s a veteran, dealing with everything from back pains to PTSD and insomnia as a result, and says the family can’t afford to be staying in a hotel.
Group steps in to help Albuquerque veteran with roof troubles.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)– Relief for one local veteran whose home improvement nightmare is coming to an end.
Mischelle Huling is getting a new roof from local companies through a group called Heroes Walk Among Us.
Huling claims a local roofer ripped her off, leaving her with an unfinished roof. The roofer denies those claims, but when Heroes Walk Among Us heard about Huling’s situation, they decided to lend a helping hand.
The Story about Sgt. Huling
In February 2017, Sgt. Huling came to Heroes Walk Among Us looking for assistance to repair the roof of her families home. Due to a dishonest contractor, Sgt. Huling paid for a roof that made her home a liability to her family and their health. Sgt. Huling is 100% disabled by the VA and needed our help, and HWAU had the honor to help our sister in arms.
HWAU stepped in and help this veterans family and with the help of our local business, we replaced this roof, AC ducting, and minor electrical problems caused by the leaking roof.
HWAU efforts gave this disabled veteran and her family $15,000.00 in repairs to her roof and approximately $5,000.00 in heating, AC and electrical repairs.
Thank you, to all the companies that helped our Veteran and your donations.
