Oscar Elbert "Bert" Cox
65, passed away October 15, 2017. He resided in Panama City Beach, Florida. Oscar was born in Artesia, NM. He is preceded in death by his father, Avery Cox.
Bert came to Sandia in 2000, and worked various positions until he found his way into Security in 2003, and decided he had found a home. Bert had worked in the Foreign Interactions Office and for CMPC before he came to the S&S Training Team in 2010, where he served primarily as the Instructional Designer for the Protective Force.
He is survived by his wife Delene Cox, daughter Jennifer Hall, her husband Jon Hall, son Craig Cox, his wife Barbara Cox, granddaughter Natalie Hall, grandson Allen Hall, step grandsons Davin Paez, Justin Paez, and Lucas Paez, two step-great granddaughters Torrionna Paez and Amaia Paez. Bert is also survived by his mother, Elizabeth Boggs, three brothers Wesley Cox, William Cox and Larry Cox, two sisters Kay Ross & Glyna Mullins and many nephews & nieces.
Oscar had a great number of friends and was loved by many. He had two fur babies he loved very much, Obi and Oscar.
Ever the gentleman, Bert is remembered for his easy forthright manner, his thoughtfulness towards others, and his unexpected humor.
Bert served 20 years in the United States Army and recently retired from Sandia National Labs.
